I LOVE RED.
It is a colour that had always attracted me. I find it to be a colour that represents so many aspects and emotions of life, and of course…it looks SO good on lips.
As 2018 draws to an end, my mind has already jumped past Christmas and onto the impending Valentines’ day…
I want to find my valentine. THE red liquid lip of 2019 for me. The one that will be bestowed upon my lips and grace those mounds and crevices with all of its liquid glory…
Oh, snap, yes.
ANYWAYS.
For the next few weeks until V-day, I will embark on this search for the ultimate liquid love of 2019.
Therein, we begin this journey with two of my most favourite liquid lips:
Stila’s Fiery and Jeffree Star Cosmetics’ Redrum.
A TOUGH START indeed!
I actually came across JS’ Redrum few years back when a friend gifted it to me. It was an instant love story with this liquid lip…until the love(liquid) ran out.
I needed to find the perfect alternative to the missing love of my life. I was all out of love (ok, I’ll stop now) and was starstruck when I’ve finally found the perfect other.
Cue Stila’s Fiery liquid lip.
Both liquid lipsticks have very smooth application, especially Stila’s as I found their formula to be of a creamier texture.
This also means that Stila’s actually dries slower. If I am adding on layers, Stila’s could become slightly clotted- or gunky- if not applied properly, e.g. packed on before the previous layer dried off thoroughly.
Though, the creamier texture and slower dry rate does mean that I have more time to work with the product and have more space for errors when manipulating the product on my lips. JS’ would dry and be soaked up quicker into the crevices of my lips due to its runnier consistency.
In terms of the shades of red- Stila’s red is slightly deeper than JS’ and I feel as though it adds more maturity and lusciousness to my look. JS’ cosmetics are known to be highly pigmented and this red definitely gives vibrancy and life to my lips.
Lastly, perhaps because of its creamier application, Stila’s liquid lip is likely to smear more so than JS’, post-drying.
Still, both are great quality liquid lipsticks and in beautiful shades… There is a reason why these two are my top favourites.
So which liquid lip is one step closer to being my valentine?
We shall find out next week!
Which one do YOU think will make it through?
