The project ‘AU REVOIR’ investigates the meaning of art to the artist through a story with media of filming, spatial installation and painting.
In the current Covid pandemic, artists and creatives are questioned by the value of our creativity as a non-essential element of life. Theatres are closed, students in art and design major are at the end of the road to return to school, and the government also suggest we 'rethink, reskill and reboot'. Looking at panic, rumour, and cultural crisis right now, these scenes are not new in human history. In 1918, the H1N1 flu spread on the grant land of Europe, it was also a time of World War 1. Artists who were in poor living and medical conditions lost their job and lives.
Is art useless?
