Who Will Be My Valentine? A Liquid Lip Love Story

I LOVE RED.

It is a colour that had always attracted me. I find it to be a colour that represents so many aspects and emotions of life, and of course…it looks SO good on lips.

As 2018 draws to an end, my mind has already jumped past Christmas and onto the impending Valentines’ day…

I want to find my valentine. THE red liquid lip of 2019 for me. The one that will be bestowed upon my lips and grace those mounds and crevices with all of its liquid glory…

Oh, snap, yes.

ANYWAYS.

For the next few weeks until V-day, I will embark on this search for the ultimate liquid love of 2019.

Therein, we begin this journey with two of my most favourite liquid lips:

Myself & Dr. Jart+

Welcome back to my blog, or if you’ve just come across The Disoriental:

Hello! Welcome! Come in! Have a cuppa!

See, I have always had this odd relationship with skincare. It took me a long while, until the rise of korean skincare and cosmetics, to realise that water/aqua-based products worked best with my skin.

Since then, I’ve been quite the low-key fan of trying out various skin care products and building a solid skincare routine for myself (which until this day I am still changing a few bits and bobs, of course…mainly eye creams...the beauty industry is a multi-billion industry, we’re always going to find something new. Simple as.)

Moving on.

I’ve recently purchased a couple of masks to try and see which will make it into my new essentials’ selection. I’ve decided to try out Dr. Jart+ first since I’ve seen this brand everywhere and heard about it for quite sometime now, so naturally I wanted to put it to the test.

Masks_Group

I’ve bought two Dr. Jart+ masks: the Soothing Hydra Solution deep hydration sheet mask and the Porecting Solution bubbling charcoal sheet mask.

They both retailed at £6.50 in Selfridges and for that price, I would have to say that the Porecting Solution mask is much more worth using. HOWEVER, I did do some searching online and of course you could buy the same products for cheaper from sites like Asian Beauty Plus and ASOS.

Granted, I used the Atomy peeling gel before using the Porecting Solution mask, which of course means there are some discrepancies between the two masks’ experiences, but because I already had a regular hydrating skincare routine, I do not find myself in desperate need for the Soothing Hydra Solution mask, unless it really made a difference.

I will definitely be using the Porecting Solution mask a couple more times to experience its consistency and try the mask to its full effect as a long-term routine product.

Actually, using a peeling gel prior to a pore-minimizing and purifying mask was a personal beauty advice from my mom (thanks, mom!). The Atomy peeling gel I have in my cupboard works really well in lifting my dead skin and rooted dirt particles on my skin. What I liked most about it was that it left my skin feeling REALLY soft and smooth, without making it dry and taut. It is a 2-3 minutes leave-on gel, which you then scrub and rinse away. Simple, easy, done.

I’ve splashed on some toner and followed up with using the Dr. Jart+ Porecting Solution mask. I really liked the fitting of the mask- there were slits in the right places. The mask started bubbling up within a minute or so. I left it on for 20 minutes (it is a 10-20 minute leave-on mask), and the longer I left it on, the more ‘minty’ my skin felt which was very refreshing.

Trying Dr. Jart_Porecting

After removing the mask, my pores do feel and look much cleaner and have quite minimized (bearing in mind this is a first-time experience, so I don’t expect a magical makeover!). Overall, my skin did look smoothened out and corrected.

When I was patting down the remaining serum, it did get REALLY sticky, but I just had to let it settle down and dry.

I really did enjoy this experience. I felt it worked really well for my skin and wasn’t too complicated to use. It’s not exactly the most expensive mask, but it does add-up overtime. However, because of its effectiveness, you do get value for your money and you can use it as a weekly or biweekly routine product rather than every few days.

I have three more brands to try soon! Will they make it to my essentials’ selection?
